Foundation Repair
Frank Lloyd Wright’s architecture always embraced the natural environment, and this 1958 home needed significant repairs to restore its structural integrity over a steep ravine. The wall supporting the soaring concrete terrace settled nearly five inches, skewing windows and doors and damaging interior concrete.
The Kent Companies team provided comprehensive services to the owners of The Schultz House throughout its renovation in 2013. Our evaluation revealed four distinct foundation designs throughout the home and a structure that seldom matched the original building plans. Kent crews installed 53 helical piers to structurally support approximately 265 lineal feet of exterior foundation wall. This effort required intricate designs, an exhaustive safety plan and close coordination with a structural engineer throughout all phases of work.
We removed and replaced over 460 square feet of colored concrete sidewalks, and Kent’s Specialty Flooring Division restored the look of Wright’s signature “Cherokee Red” flooring with a customized epoxy coating.
Frank Lloyd Wright’s designs stand the test of time. As a result of our work, The Schultz House will too.
